POST-SURGICAL INSTRUCTIONS:
The following instructions are given by the VSmile dental team and should be followed carefully on the day of the surgery and the following days:
BLEEDING:
- Keep your bite down on the gauze that is over the wound for 30'-45'
- Don't spit and don't wash out the wound on the day of the surgery
- Don't worry if you see some blood in your saliva in the first 24hours
SWELLING:
There is a likelihood of swelling after the extraction (this concerns mainly surgical extractions.
To limit the swelling you can place a cold compress on the outside of the face adjacent to the extracted tooth (for example ice wrapped in a thin towel every 10 minutes for 2-3 hours after the end of the procedure).
PAIN:
Follow the personal prescription that you have been given or contact us. Do not take aspirin it increases the bleeding.
ANTIBIOTICS:
Only take antibiotics is they have been prescribed by us, and in accordance with the dosage we tell you.
FOOD:
On the day of the procedure and for 1 week afterwards:
Avoid:
- hot, hard or spicy food
- nuts and anything containing nuts
- sesame and anything containing sesame
- chewing gum
- food that has small bones
- alcohol
Prefer:
- cold and liquidy foods, yoghurt, ice cream, milk and juice
- soft foods like spaghetti, beans and lentils
SMOKING:
Don't smoke on the day of the procedure, and limit smoking over the days afterwards.
The warm smoke, tar and nicotin that is in cigarettes can seriously damage the healing process.
ORAL HYGIENE:
- don't eat carelessly
- don't touch the area around the extraction with a toothbrush, and brush the rest of the teeth carefully
- if we suggest that you use an antiseptic solution, only use it after the first 24hrs have past and in the manner we have shown you
REST:
- we suggest that after the surgery you go home and rest
- don't exrcise, don't bend over and don't lift weights on the day of the procedure
STITCHES:
If any stitches were placed in the wound, you will come back to the dental surgery 7-10 days later for the stitches to be removed.
