What are zirconium replacements?
Zirconium is a durable material, with light-penetration, that allows for the construction of prosthetics that are strong, well designed and that highly resemble natural teeth.
Zirconium is an excellent cosmetic material for the construction of anterior and posterior crowns & bridges without a metal base, therefore avoiding the greying of gums. It can also be used in place of metal alloys for metal skeleton bases and implant bases.

What advantages do zirconium replacements have?
Other than the strenght and assthetic look of zirconium replacements that are also other advantages:
- they require less filling down of the teeth because zirconium is thinner than a metal skeleton base.
- they are completely biocompatible with human tissue and don't case allergies
- their design is exact and is created using the CAD/CAM (Computer-Aided Design and Computer-Aided Manufacturing) system
- they retain less plaque than metal-ceramic alternatives and as such assist in keeping gums healthy
- they are not very heat conductive and therefore create a barrier that reduced sensitivity to hot and cold
- they do not corrode easily
- they are highly resisitant to the absorption of colour from strongly coloured food and drinks
Zirconium replacements have a longer life that other ceramic replacement, if oral health is maintains and regular check-ups take place.
